One of my new rings made the Etsy Twitter Team Treasury “Hot Pink”. Thanks Mandizzle!
Update: since I’m having issues with WordPress, here are the links to the treasury ( http://www.etsy.com/treasury_list.php?room_id=55322 ) and to Mandizzle’s shop ( http://Mandizzle.etsy.com )
Here’s a little bit of eye candy for you on this gorgeous spring day, courtesy of the Etsy Maine Team. Enjoy!

Amazing how those dull and drab colors get transformed. These pendants are now on their way to Virginia to a new shop opening up, Olde Dominion Soap Company (good luck Carole!)
I fired the pendants for my other custom order yesterday. No warping, but the darn clear glaze left little bubbles all over the pendants. That’s it! That’s the third time I’ve tried to complete that order. When I got home yesterday I ended up ordering some clear Envision Glaze from Duncan; the royal blue and orchid pendants are the same brand, and I’ve been very happy with how they came out.
Home with a nasty headache today, so I’m hoping that Excederin does its job at some point, and I can do some playing. I won’t be working on my spare room to studio revamp today, but I’ll be able to do some planning and such. I have a couple of books and magazines to review, hopefully in the next couple of days. Until we meet again!
I just have enough time for a quick post, showing off my new adjustable rings. These rings are silver plated, but sterling silver can be special ordered. Hopefully I’ll be able to start adding them to my Etsy shop in the next few days.
My last few pieces of my custom orders will be coming out of the kiln in a few minutes, then I’ll be taking a short hiatus from custom work to let my hands heal up from tax season. They’re quite achy right now, but with a week’s rest they should be as good as…well as good as they can be.
And look what I found while I was on my lunch break! Lots of finished pendants and beads will fit in these.
We’re in the final days of tax season, and hopefully I can get rested up soon and back to clay work. Priority number one is finishing up a couple of orders that have been in the queue for awhile (thanks for your patience ladies!), then I’m reclaiming the spare room. I lost my craft room when Isaac came along, and since hubby has a great big garage, I’m feeling like it’s time to get the tools and stuff out of the spare room. MINE!!! It takes a huge bite into my productivity when I have to setup and breakdown during Isaac’s afternoon nap. I’ve decided that this time my studio will be filled with vintage and vintage-style stuff that I’ve been collecting. It will be a huge undertaking, but if I want to step the business up a notch something has to be done. I recently received a couple of issues of Cloth Paper Scissors “Studios”, so now I’m all inspired now. I know it’s customary to take “before” pictures, but it’s too embarrassing!
Have a Happy Easter, Everyone!
Jena over at Modish Biz Tips had a great idea this week for setting realistic goals for ourselves and our businesses (here is the link to the post). We share our goals with the group, which gives us a certain level of accountability (things are more likely to get done if I’m accountable to someone besides myself). I thought about it last night, and here’s what I came up with for April:
1. Complete my two outstanding wholesale orders.
2. Submit my business to the Maine Products Marketing Program
3. Retake some product photos; use the slate background for shop consistency.
4. Blog at least 3 times a week.
5. Prepare two pieces for article submissions.
April will actually be a short month for me, as I’m in the final stretch of tax season, but things will pick up again in May. Just because items haven’t appeared in the shop doesn’t mean that my little brain hasn’t been working overtime on planning new projects. I have new glazes, new clays, new stamps, new tools….
